Bryan Fryer is a Partner in Grassi’s Nonprofit Practice. In this role, he is committed to advising nonprofit organizations, associations, and foundations on improving financial health, mitigating risk, and achieving long-term sustainability.
Bryan specializes in providing outsourced CFO and Controller services customized to each client’s needs. These services include establishing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments and building enterprise risk management systems, overseeing external or internal financial staff, and developing sound strategic business plans.
With over 20 years of public accounting and advisory experience, Bryan has directed all facets of the nonprofit finance environment, including banking and liquidity, compliance and grant management, budgeting and reforecasting, optimizing accounts receivable, collections and accounts payable, taxes, revenue recognition, and reporting. His expertise includes risk management, vendor management, financial reporting, nonprofit attestation preparation, internal controls, and cash flow forecasting. Bryan has also served as a mediator for merging nonprofits to help ensure successful transitions.
Before joining Grassi, Bryan held leadership roles in public and private accounting. Most recently, he was a partner at a regional public accounting firm, providing outsourced CFO services to nonprofit and commercial clients. Previously, he served as Controller for two ultra-high-net-worth multi-family offices. In these roles, he oversaw all accounting functions, administered banking and investment relationships, implemented internal controls, directed technology upgrades, and managed budgeting, tax compliance, and cash flow.
Bryan is also committed to serving his community. He is on the Board of Directors and serves as the Chair of New Settlement’s finance and audit committees, a nonprofit settlement house serving the Mount Eden section of the Bronx. He is also the Treasurer and Board Member of Dad’s Club of Pleasantville, the nonprofit youth sports program in Pleasantville, New York. He is a recipient of Westchester County’s 40-under-40 award from the Business Council of Westchester and a frequent speaker on financial reporting skills for nonprofits across many organizations.
Bryan is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York and a member of the New York State Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. He received his Master of Science in Business Administration (Accounting) from the Catholic University of America.
