Qualified healthcare providers who missed the initial opportunity to apply for funding from the CARES Act Provider Relief Fund (General Distribution Phase 1) will have another chance to apply for the funding beginning next week. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced that the portal will reopen on August 10, 2020.
Medicaid, CHIP, dental providers and other providers with low Medicare revenues are encouraged to submit an application by the new August 28, 2020 deadline. These relief funds can be used to recover lost revenues due to COVID-19, help uninsured Americans get testing and treatment, and cover other approved expenses. The payments do not need to be repaid to HHS as long as all terms and conditions are met.
Extended Relief for Other Medicaid, CHIP & Dental Providers
HHS has also extended the deadline for Medicaid, Medicaid managed care, CHIP and dental providers to apply for Phase 2 of the General Distribution, the $15 billion set aside for providers that participate in state Medicaid and CHIP programs and do not receive funding from the Phase 1 General Distribution.
The deadline for applying for Phase 2 funds has also been extended to August 28, 2020.
