Every year, CEO Lou Grassi closes all five offices of his 288-employee company, Grassi & Co., to celebrate the hard work and dedication of his employees and this year was no different.
Held at the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville, employees began their day making roughly 5000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to donate to soup kitchens across the island. Lou is a big believer in giving back, not only to the less fortunate, but to his employees as well. Sandwiches were donated to:
- The Mary Brennan Inn
- Faith Mission Soup Kitchen at Pope Francis Hospitality
- The Patchogue Neighbors Soup Kitchen
- Light House Mission
- North Shore Inn
After finishing sandwich-making, employees spent the rest of their day on the beach, eating, drinking, and playing volleyball, giant jenga, and chess.
In an era where companies would never dream of closing their doors for a day to allow employees to just have fun, Lou’s philosophy has always been, “Work Hard, Play Hard” and he lives by that philosophy still today.
